Mother knows Best.
She confirmed to me over 6 years ago that anyone could become an online card maker and create your own personalized cards.
Back in 2006 I had already been in the marketing industry for 6 years, but was considering using a service an associate had told me about. My usual procedure is to try something when possible before I buy it, or promote it. So . . . after a simple set up, I sent my mom a greeting card with my handwriting (as a font – part of the service) and my signature (again – a scanned image as part of the service.)
About a week later I called her as I was living in Honolulu at the time.
“Hi Mom! Did you get my card?”
She was surprised as I didn’t used to be someone that sent cards to touch people lives.
“Yes.” Mom said.
Me: “Did you notice anything unusual about the card?”
“No.” Mom said – again thanking me, probably thinking I was fishing for more appreciation. So I asked her to go get it, knowing she has kept almost everything I have given her for over 50 years
So while she was holding it I asked: “OK, now do you see anything unusual?”
Again the answer was “No.”
OK – we passed the “mom” test. This service was spectacular. When I explained that I didn’t take 30 minutes to drive to a store, pick out a card for $4.00 then write it out and put a stamp and send in the mail, BUT instead I used a service over the internet that could create a card with my handwriting and signature, stuff and mail it for me – all for about a buck – she was impressed also.
That was 2006.
I’ve been using this service since now going into my 6th year and have sent thousands of cards. What has amazed me is that most people DO NOT KNOW it is a service. Even those that find out it is a service ( because I tell them,) I am equally amazed that it doesn’t diminish the value or appreciation in their eyes. Truly. It has been amazing.
This online card maker tool has been my most effective communication. You also can create your own personalized cards: Personalised Birthday Cards, Personalised Thank You Cards, Personalised Christmas Cards. (*Just a note for USA citizens: “personalized” can also be spelled “personalised,” which is used in other nations.)
